William MacCance (Scottish, 20th Century) The Engineer, his Wife and Family, c. 1923. Pencil, ink and gouache drawing. 4 7/8 x 2 7/8 inches. Signed in pencil by the artist. A rare early Cubist drawing from the British Isles by McCance, a sculptor, typographer and husband of Agnes Miller Parker (1895-1980). They worked together on The Fables of Aesop for the Gregynog Press (1931), one of the finest pieces of book design in the British School.
