Sheila Ellsworth Burlingame (1934 - 1903) Pottery gouache drawing 5 x 10 1/2 and 4 x 10 inches. this drawing of womans work was evidently a study for a fresco above an arch of an unknown building, possibly in her native St. Louis. Burlingame studied at the Art Institute of Chicao and Art Students League of NY. She was a member of the St. Louis Artists Guld. Much of her sculpture is in St. Louis. This drawing suggests Puvis de Chavannes, but have a Modernists use of color. |
